national night out
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
In Cross Plains, we expand on the national model by inviting other public safety and community organizations to join us in celebrating community. National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday of August. The location for this year, 2019, will be the Cross Plains Fire Department. Be sure to come out and enjoy fun, games, and food, along with interacting with representatives of multiple public safety organizations. |
Prescription drug take back
Twice a year the Cross Plains Police Department, in conjunction with hundreds of agencies throughout the United States, sponsors a prescription drug take back day. This allows people to safely and securely dispose of unwanted/expired prescription drugs. With prescription drug abuse continually on the rise, the take back day is a way to rid medicine cabinets of unwanted pills. There is also an environmental benefit as drugs collected are kept from being flushed into our sewer system or buried in our landfills. Contact Officer Kroetz for more information.

shop with a cop
In 2018, the Cross Plains Police Department joined Shop With A Cop - Dane County Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Along with representatives from 14 other law enforcement agencies within Dane County, Cross Plains officers are paired up with a local child whose family has fallen on hard financial times. The officer picks the participant up at home in a police car, drives together to an area shopping location and helps facilitate the child purchase gifts for the holidays. After the shopping experience, the officer and participant partake in a gift wrapping / pizza party, before the officer takes the child home with the police car full of wrapped gifts. If you or your business would like to make the holiday season just a bit more special with a monetary donation, please contact Officer Miller.
