Lieutenant kim ready

Lieutenant Kim Ready began working for the Village of Cross Plains in the summer of 2016 as the Lieutenant/Detective. Lieutenant Ready comes to the Cross Plains Police Department by way of Cuba City, Wisconsin.

Recently, Lieutenant Ready completed an active assailant training geared at ensuring officers are prepared for an active shooter event in a school, church, or other setting.

Lieutenant Ready brings a wide variety of life experience and education to the police department. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in physical education from University of Wisconsin -La Crosse and substitute taught in the La Crosse area. He was then hired by the City of Marquette, Iowa, Police Department briefly before beginning his tenure with the Cuba City Police Department, where dedicated over 20 years to the city of 2,055 residents. During his time in Cuba City, Lieutenant Ready taught D.A.R.E. and coached 8th grade basketball. Throughout his professional career, Lieutenant Ready volunteered over 31 years to the National Guard/Army Reserve prior to retiring in 2016 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Outside of work, Lieutenant Ready is an avid outdoorsman: hunting, kayaking, traveling west, riding his Hog, and spending time with his family. He feels right at home as he was born and raised in Grant County, Wisconsin and along with his wife, raised their son to adulthood prior to relocating to the greater Cross Plains area.

Lieutenant Ready says he wanted to work in Cross Plains because he enjoys the small communities, the tightknit values, and the ability to interact with citizens on a personal level.

You can often catch Lieutenant Ready patrolling on the afternoon shift. Wave and say, “hi” to him; he will return the favor.
